Robert Šalanda
Robert Šalanda (1976) is a representative of a strong generation of authors who began to profile themselves significantly after 2000. At present, Šalanda is an artist who is personally involved in the formation of the youngest generation of painters, as he leads one of the painting studios at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague. In the context of Czech painting, his work is distinctive in many ways. Šalanda does not allow himself to be limited by established principles and conventions, he understands painting freely, as a medium that he explores and analyses. He uses the entire width of the painting spectrum, sensitively touches its boundaries and is often able to make matter-of-fact irony. By abstracting the basic forms and using the basic signs, he creates a distinctive and refined language with which he communicates with the viewer. In his works, he is able to combine the unexpected and works with the basic essence of painting. Occasionally, he uses text and its content can substantively support the final effect of his works.
